Curriculum Highlights

EYFS focuses on the seven areas of learning and development. KS1 & KS2 use Geography and History (Humanities) to develop an approach to delivering the curriculum and the STEAM curriculum (Science, Technology, Art and Maths). Reading for pleasure through daily reading experiences, real books and reading schemes; 100% of pupils leaving read for meaning, insight and pleasure. Phonics taught using a systematic synthetic approach with Bug Club; 44 phoneme sounds; differentiated across year groups; applied across the curriculum. Three learning pathways to ensure accessible curriculum with linked progression and seamless transitions. Residential trip for KS2 to Sayers Croft in Surrey, subsidised and partly funded by Pupil Premium.

Admissions Criteria

Admission Criteria: Pupils who are able to access the national curriculum when it is appropriately differentiated and modified to enable learning. The approach to learning is highly structured and positive, with low levels of arousal. Pupils may have a mixed profile of attainment or moderate learning difficulties. All pupils have EHC plans with ASD and associated behaviour as their primary barrier to learning. Pupils may have developing verbal communication and may need additional support such as Makaton and visual cues; some self-help skills and potential for greater independence; some pupils may have challenging behaviour linked to ASD and would benefit from a specialist approach to managing their needs. A full admission criterion is available from the school or SENAS upon request.
