St Catherine’s is a Catholic primary school where Catholic faith is central to school life. Religious Education follows the Come and See programme. Regular School Masses are held. Sacramental preparation includes Sacrament of Reconciliation (Year 4) and the Sacrament of the Eucharist (Year 4, with First Holy Communion at St Dominic's Priory). The school emphasises a faith-in-action approach, strong parish links (Holy Name Jesmond and St Dominic’s Priory), and engagement with parish and community activities. Nursery admits in September after a child’s third birthday; Reception typically in September after the fourth birthday. The school is part of the Bishop Bewick Catholic Education Trust; Local Governing Committee administers admissions on behalf of the Trust.
