Curriculum Highlights

The curriculum is aligned to the National Curriculum with a comprehensive progression document for staff; learning journeys and CPD materials ensure progression and high standards. Enrichment experiences including school trips and visits to broaden learning. Computing units cover Information Systems and Networks, Programming, Data and Information, and Creating Media; online safety taught discretely. English: reading (Hooked on Books, VIPERS, weekly comprehension) and writing (The Write Stuff, grammar focus, spelling rules) with Read Write Inc for phonics. Geography and History emphasize fieldwork, local area learning and progression through key stages; regular assessment and review. Art & Design uses a long-term plan, sketchbooks, and displays to show progression and self-assessment. Music uses the Charanga scheme with opportunities to sing, perform, compose and use instruments; extra-curricular options include Alfresco choir, ukulele, guitar, violin and other music activities. Modern Foreign Languages (French) with intercultural understanding and progression through year groups. Design Technology taught discretely across KS1/KS2 with a focus on practical making and safe working practices. Science taught through a National Curriculum framework with progression and assessment.
