Curriculum Highlights

The curriculum includes three domains: personal, social and academic. Delivered through three pathways: Academic Pathway, Vocational Pathway, and Supported Vocational Pathway. The Academic Pathway is aimed at students who have the cognitive and academic skills to be able to access traditional qualifications and leads to Level 3 BTECs and/or A-Level qualifications. The Vocational Pathway is aimed at students who wish to follow a more vocational pathway and may include Functional Skills or GCSE in English and Maths where required. The Supported Vocational Pathway is aimed at students looking to develop independence and may include Entry Level and Functional Skills in English and Maths. All students follow a pathway appropriate to their ability and which prepares them for their chosen next steps; the school provides GCSEs, A-levels and vocational qualifications.

SEND Provision

All students have an Education, Health and Care (EHC) Plan (formerly a Statement of Special Educational Needs) that refers to a diagnosis of Autism. Vanguard School provides a structured environment with high levels of targeted intervention and differentiation throughout the school day to support students with autism-related needs.

Admissions Criteria

Vanguard School has places available for autistic children aged 11 to 19. Referrals should be sent via local authority to [email protected]; the school is a day school taking students from Lambeth and surrounding local authorities. All students must have an EHCP referring to Autism; the school may admit pupils from Year 7 to Year 13.
