Head Teacher's Message

Welcome to The Holmewood School London, an Outstanding multi-site school meeting the needs of neurodivergent young people from seven to 19 with autism. The Head Teacher Bridget Young describes personalised learning pathways, on-site therapy provision, and a focus on enabling students to access education, develop independence and engage with the wider community.

Curriculum Highlights

Multi-sensory teaching programme to meet the needs of students with Dyslexia, Dyspraxia and Dyscalculia in addition to autism Decoding strategies for reading, Phonological Awareness, sight words, comprehension and extended writing Extensive use of software to support learning (keyboard touch typing, spelling, reading, planning and presentation) Structured teaching with stable timetables, movement breaks, reflection and planned transitions Independent life skills programme including practical activities such as shopping, travel planning and charity work to build independence pathway to external exams (BTECs and GCSEs) with access arrangements and tailored curriculum
