"Working and Learning Together to Achieve our Best"
Welcome to Mapledown Secondary School. We are a proud secondary school serving students aged 11-19 with SEND (including Autism and/or profound or severe learning, health and care needs). We emphasise a personalised approach, assess pupils’ needs before joining, and place them in the most suitable class/provision (main site or satellites). Our aim is to discover each student’s unique voice through the education and curriculum we offer, to prepare them for life beyond Mapledown. Our staff are capable and hardworking, and the school was rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted in November 2023.
All pupils have an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) or are admitted on an assessment basis; EHCP includes long-term outcomes and short-term Key Personal Learning Targets (KPLTs); pupils baselined on arrival; progress reviewed at transition/annual EHCP reviews; outcomes feed into teaching planning and target setting; EHCPs cover health, mobility and related needs; multiple health professionals and therapies work with pupils; MOVE and other supports used as appropriate.
The admissions criteria for the school has been approved by the Governing Body of Mapledown and agreed with the Local Authority. They will be reviewed annually.
Invoices are issued at the beginning of each half-term, and fees are payable via bank transfer.
