Ethos & Values

"Where learning never stands still"

Head Teacher's Message

Welcome to Cragside Primary School, a place where learning is brought to life with energy, enthusiasm and a deep sense of care. Our dedicated staff deliver a rich and engaging curriculum tailored to inspire and nurture every child, and children are valued, supported and encouraged to reach their full potential. We serve a rich and diverse community and value the sense of belonging that makes Cragside feel like one big family.

Curriculum Highlights

Reading is a ‘golden thread’ that runs through every aspect of the curriculum. From Reception, there is a strong focus on reading for pleasure and developing a love of reading and rhyme; Reception learners study phonics using the Read, Write Inc scheme. The curriculum supports all children, including those with SEND, to produce work of a high quality and develop a depth of understanding. The school is a lead school for North-East Creativity Collaboratives – an Arts Council funded project to develop creative thinking in children and young people. The school was chosen as part of the ‘Rethinking Curriculum’ project funded by The Chartered College of Teaching and the Helen Hamlyn Centre for Pedagogy. The curriculum includes a strong Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE) component, with leadership opportunities in Year 6 and a focus on creativity and inclusion.
