"A school for your child; a community for your family"
Benton Park Primary School is a School of Sanctuary and supports the City of Sanctuary pledge. The school endorses the City of Sanctuary Charter and agrees to act in accordance with City of Sanctuary values and to apply the network principles where possible. It recognises the contribution of people seeking sanctuary, welcomes asylum-seeking and refugee families, and aims to create a safe and inclusive school community. Three simple principles are outlined: 1) LEARN – about what it means to be seeking sanctuary; 2) TAKE POSITIVE ACTION – to embed welcome, safety and inclusion within the school and wider community; 3) SHARE – your vision and achievements and be proud. Everyone at Benton Park strives to make people feel welcome and treat each other with respect, offering support, advice and a friendly smile; staff educate children to understand sanctuary-related issues within the curriculum, including human rights, diversity, inclusion, refuge and migration.
Headteacher Dominic Martin welcomes families and emphasises an inclusive ethos, kindness and a bespoke curriculum designed to enable every child to know and do, to question, reason and explain, and to share their knowledge and achievements.
