St. John’s is a Voluntary Aided school with a Christian ethos. Religious education is based on guidance from the Manchester Diocesan Board of Education and the Wigan Agreed Syllabus. In Foundation/KS1, topics include God, Jesus, Advent, Christmas, the Church, the Bible and Judaism; in KS2, topics include the life of Jesus, the Bible, the Christmas and Easter stories, the Church, Judaism and Hinduism. Worship is an important part of the school day and is led by the Headteacher, teaching staff, the Vicar and other visitors.

Breakfast Club runs from 7:30 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. (term time only) with breakfast served until 8:30 a.m. After School Club runs from 3:15 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. (term time only) with a snack and a timetable of various games and activities; the club may be used on a part- or full-time basis. Prices: Breakfast club £5.50 per session; After School Club £7.50 per session. Club is staffed by Nursery staff.
