Headteacher welcomes families to Wood Fold, emphasising a safe, warm and caring environment with a broad and balanced curriculum and a strong partnership with parents. The message invites open communication and visits to the school.

Forest School School library

Curriculum Highlights

Art: three units taught in each year group; extensive research on key artists; final piece in the artist's style. Design Technology: three elements per unit—designing and making for somebody for a specific purpose; problem solving; use of technical vocabulary. Forest School: long-term, regular sessions in a woodland; promotes holistic development; run by qualified Forest School practitioners; six principles. English: emphasis on reading and writing; rich classroom library; KS1 phonics using Sounds Write; motivational reading quotes such as "The more you read, the more you know". Geography: curriculum is progressive, starting with local geography and expanding to national and international geography; aims to develop geographical thinking. History: aims to inspire curiosity about the past and develop enquiry skills to understand change and identity. Computing: aims to provide a broad computing education, incorporating digital citizenship and the view that technology will transform learning. Long Term Plans: curriculum content for each year group across subjects is outlined in the school’s long-term plans.

SEND Provision

Wood Fold uses Waves of Provision (Wave 1: quality first teaching that is inclusive and personalised; Wave 2: targeted interventions to accelerate progress; Wave 3: intensive, highly personalised support, including specialist interventions when needed) to remove barriers to learning, with Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for some pupils that are reviewed termly.
