Curriculum Highlights

Core Curriculum focuses on knowledge and skills needed to succeed in life, including English, Mathematics and Science alongside wider curriculum. Wider Curriculum includes discrete subjects to meet the National Curriculum, with cross-curricular links where possible and enrichment such as trips, visits, workshops, artefact boxes and role-play. Assessment and monitoring are used throughout the year, including formative and summative assessment, pupil progress reviews and End of Topic Quizzes, with retrieval practice to aid memory. Forest School runs throughout the year in a designated space in Skitters Woods, with a weekly contribution of £15 for the half term (£3 per session) via ParentPay. The school promotes the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance across the curriculum. The Whole Child Curriculum focuses on happiness, social and emotional development, enrichment opportunities beyond the classroom and pupil voice through councils and clubs. Reading is supported by Monster Phonics, a library with a variety of schemes, Accelerated Reader program, a well-stocked library, newspapers, reading clubs and a dedicated daily reading time.
