Newton Westpark Primary School provides SEND support following the four broad areas of need: Communication and Interaction; Cognition and Learning; Social, Emotional and Mental Health; and Sensory and/or Physical Needs as outlined in the SEND Code of Practice. The SENDCO (Mrs Lane) ensures appropriate support for each child, maintains up-to-date individual support plans, arranges staff training, and works with parents and external professionals (e.g., Educational Psychologists, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapists, Targeted Education Support Service, School Nurses, Outreach Service, and others). The school uses Edukey to give parents access to pupil passports and learning plans, and tracks progress with BSquared.

For mid-year admissions, parents can complete a mid-year application form on the Wigan Council website or contact the council to discuss. For children starting in September after turning 4, parents should register their name/details at the school they are interested in; they will receive an application form in October prior to starting; applications can be made online or by post; offers are usually confirmed around Easter; Inspire sessions are run for the last six Thursday afternoons of the summer term.
