SEND Provision

Brentside High School has an outstanding Learning Support Department. It offers withdrawal programmes such as Catch Up reading recovery and specialist literacy classes, additional spelling, touch-typing and handwriting classes. Teaching Assistants support students with SEN in their classes; arrangements for examinations are made for eligible students. There are four nights a week of popular homework clubs in the main room with staff support and computers. At Key Stage 4 a broader mix of options is available, including a part-time vocational course at external colleges. The school also provides specialist input to support the emotional wellbeing of students, including counsellors and therapists.
