Head Teacher's Message

Welcome to Swiss Cottage School, Development and Research Centre, a community-maintained special school in the London Borough of Camden serving children and young people from ages 4 to 19. We are a values-led school that works in partnership with a number of organisations to ensure our pupils thrive as visible, valued members of society. The school’s core values 'Inclusive Nurturing Inspiring' were decided by our families and staff and are reflected in all aspects of provision design.

Curriculum Highlights

Curriculum is skill and context based and encourages active engagement in learning; focuses on developing the key skills of communication, cognition, independence, physical development and self-care. Curriculum Pathways: Amethyst, Emerald, Pearl, Ruby, Sapphire. Curriculum strives to be responsive to each learner and build on individual strengths and interests with a rolling plan balancing different learning experiences, themes and subjects. A Deep Learning approach is emphasised, responding to each student’s point of learning. The school operates a Professional Learning Community (PLC) model to promote collaboration, challenge, and celebration of developments. Evidence for Learning is used to track learning, and the school emphasises enquiry-led planning and assessment. Sixth Form provision facilitates vocational training and work experience in the local community.
