"Creating opportunities, discovering success"
Deb Wilson, Principal, welcomes visitors to Woodfield School, describing it as an independent specialist SEN school with a warm, supportive environment. She highlights every young person’s right to a good education and opportunities to learn and grow, the school’s nurturing and structured approach to help pupils become independent and resilient, and invites families from the Midlands to consider Woodfield as a place for those who may have struggled in mainstream education.
Woodfield School admits children aged 7-19 with SEND, specifically SEMH or Moderate Learning Difficulties and additional needs, who have an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP) or where the local authority feels the school can meet their needs. Admission requires the pupil to express commitment to the placement and to Woodfield School’s expectations, and for Looked After Children there must be permanently named carers and a permanent home base. After an initial enquiry, the school will request documentation (EHCP, progress data, attendance, life chronology, behaviour plans/risk assessments, additional assessments, professional reports, parental submissions, and current/most recent PEP) to determine suitability. Following assessment, a visit/meeting is arranged; if parties agree Woodfield is the best placement, a formal offer and pupil-centred transition plan are provided.
