Ethos & Values

"Together we live and learn; we play and pray"

Catholic ethos British Values Together we live and learn; we play and pray

Sacred Heart is a Catholic Primary School inspired by the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. Pupils are nurtured in Gospel values such as compassion, respect, justice and forgiveness, and the school emphasises inclusivity and a strong link with the Parish of Sacred Heart and St Oswald's, with Father Seelan as Parish Priest.

Head Teacher's Message

Maureen Collier welcomes families to Sacred Heart and describes a vibrant, faith-filled community where every child is cherished as a unique gift from God. The message emphasizes the mission statement “Together we live and learn; we play and pray,” Gospel values of compassion, respect, justice and forgiveness, inclusivity, and a commitment to nurturing children spiritually, academically and emotionally within a strong parish partnership.

SEND Provision

Sacred Heart has a SEND Hub called The Holy Family, an autism hub opened September 2024. The hub is a Local Authority provision offering an enhanced resource base for up to eight children. Spaces are allocated by the Local Authority SEN Panel. The hub serves children from Year 2 to Year 6. Hub staff provide bespoke, individualised educational programmes guided by EHCPs and the National Curriculum and integrate with mainstream pupils as much as possible. Sacred Heart's Hub is a Centre of Expertise in Autism, offering advice, support and resources to other Peterborough schools and professionals.

Admissions Criteria

The Governors will admit up to 30 pupils in each year group. Appeals information is available; parents refused a place have a statutory right of appeal; see Sacred Heart (Peterborough) Admissions Policy 2025-26 and related documents.
