Curriculum Highlights

All students complete on-entry assessments (NGRT, NGST, CAT4, PASS) Three in-year assessment windows for all year groups Three mock examination series in Year 10 and four in Year 11 GCSE qualifications in: English Literature, English Language, Maths, Science (Biology) L1 and L2 vocational options in: Food and cookery skills, Art & Design, Music Technology, Personal Exercise, Health and Nutrition Duke of Edinburgh Award (DofE); BTEC curriculum at The Hunslet Club; L1 at Leeds College of Building Outdoor education at West Leeds Activity Centre

SEND Provision

Southway provides SEND support focused on SEMH with a Multi-Agency Team (MAT) and SENDCos on site. Students are assessed on entry and ongoing progress is tracked; the school can arrange Access Arrangements for examinations and work with external agencies as needed to support pupils with special educational needs.

Admissions Criteria

Full Time (FT) places offered cover a range of programmes. Pupils are either: at risk of permanent exclusion from a mainstream setting; new to the authority who were previously educated in a PRU setting; new to the authority who have a history of disrupted education; referred from alternative provisions on either a full-time or part-time basis.
