Derby Moor Spencer Academy provides SEND support through high-quality teaching and a personalised, differentiated curriculum. If a student continues to make less than expected progress, the SEND Team will assess whether the student has SEN. The academy uses a four-step process known as the Graduated Approach to ensure barriers to learning are removed and effective provision is put in place. The SEND Team works with Specialist Teaching Assistants and external agencies as needed. Parents are kept informed with termly Data Point progress reports, and there are three annual review/target discussions for parents of students with SEND, including annual reviews for high-need pupils. The school emphasises inclusion, with extra-curricular activities accessible to students with SEND and Thrive, Nurture and Innovation provisions integrated into support for learning. The SENCO is available for contact and appointments via [email protected] or 01332 772706.
