William Byrd Primary School is an inclusive school that supports pupils with a range of needs (including Specific Learning Difficulties, Autism Spectrum Condition, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Dyspraxia, Speech, Language and Communication difficulties, Social/Emotional/Mental Health concerns, and physical/medical needs). SEND admissions follow the same routes as other pupils. The school uses an Assess-Plan-Do-Review graduated approach, with SEN support (SEN K) on the SEND register, One Page Profiles and provision maps, and, if appropriate, Education Health & Care Plans (EHCP). The SENDCo coordinates interventions, tracks progress, and liaises with outside agencies. Staff receive SEND training, and there are additional services such as ELSA, Rainbows Bereavement support, Growing Hope gardening with Winston’s Wish, Drawing and Talking, and NHS Mental Health supports available. Parents are kept informed through meetings, reports, and parent/carer sessions.
