Welcoming message from Mr David Booth, Principal
Winston Way Academy provides SEND support with an intervention programme. Approximately 17% of students are on the SEND register. Support includes Additional Maths and English, Speech, Language, and Communication Support, Social, Emotional and Mental Health Support, Gross and Fine Motor Support, and access to specialist services such as Educational Psychologist, Speech and Language Therapist, Occupational Therapist, CAHMs Support Worker, SEaTSS, Roding Outreach Service for Deaf and Hearing-Impaired, Joseph Clarke Service for Visually Impaired, School Nurse, Autism and Early Years Intervention Team, and Behaviour Intervention Team.
Nursery priority criteria follow the London Borough of Redbridge guidelines: children in care or previously in care; exceptional medical or social needs; siblings of children already attending the school; all other applicants. Tie-breaker is the shortest walking distance from home to school; in the rare case of a tie, random allocation is used. There is no statutory right to appeal nursery admissions decisions, and a place in the nursery does not guarantee a place in the main school.
15 hours of free Early Years education per week (i.e. 5 sessions of 3 hours/day). The school does not charge for any extras for eligible children; funded sessions can be accessed in AM or PM sessions.
