Head Teacher's Message

Headteacher Justin Humphreys welcomes students to St Katherine’s, emphasising a safe, inclusive, ambitious environment with strong pastoral care, wellbeing, and partnerships with parents and carers.

Curriculum Highlights

Reading is a priority in our curriculum with the Accelerated Reader scheme used in Key Stage 3 to support literacy. Commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion across the curriculum and school practices. Efforts to decolonise the curriculum to reflect the diverse backgrounds of students. Neurodiversity and support for SEN and wellbeing integrated into curriculum and teaching practices.

SEND Provision

Pupil Premium funding is used to raise attainment for disadvantaged students and close gaps. The Local Governing Body reviews how the grant is spent six times each academic year, focusing on attendance, literacy, aspirations, parental engagement and transitions. Eligibility includes Free School Meals.

Admissions Criteria

Year 7 admissions are processed through the home local authority (North Somerset Council or Bristol City Council) based on home address. The school notes that around 70% of students come from Bristol. In-year admissions places are handled via online forms starting 1 September 2025. Post-16 admissions have separate arrangements.
