Welcome to University Collegiate School Bolton—a dynamic, inclusive, and forward-thinking secondary school and Sixth Form for students aged 11–19. UCS combines academic excellence with real-world readiness, offering a unique blend of traditional learning and future-focused pathways. We are embracing our identity as a University Technical College and have recently opened the £17 million Lord Baker Building, which provides modern facilities and strong employer partnerships to prepare students for the world of work.
All teachers at UCS are teachers of SEND. Our approach includes Quality First Teaching for a responsive and adaptive curriculum, continuous assessment to identify gaps, enrichment activities to extend learning beyond the classroom, and personalised support such as Personal Support Plans. We work with external agencies to secure specialist input, and reviews for Education Health and Care Plans (EHCP) are held annually where applicable. Withdrawal from lessons is avoided where possible and targeted interventions are provided to meet individual needs.
