HIAC's curriculum focuses on developing disciplinary knowledge and disciplinary literacy as the bedrock for curriculum and instruction. Disciplinary Literacy is emphasised across the curriculum with academy-wide literacy training for staff and subject-specific training. Key Stage 3 is a 3-year KS with GCSE options in Year 9; subjects studied include English, Maths, Science, Geography, History, Religious Education, PSHE, Art and Design, Music, Drama, Spanish/French, and PE; total 30 lessons per week, plus enrichment. Key Stage 4 core subjects are English, Maths, Science, Religious Studies and Physical Education; options include History, Geography, Psychology, Sociology, Health and Social Care, Computer Science, Business Studies, Art, Graphic Communication, French, Spanish, Drama. Enrichment and co-curricular activities include the Duke of Edinburgh scheme and the Jack Petchey Award; Kinetic Academy Football Programme is available for Sixth Form; a strong sports programme.
