Tapton is a values-led 11-18 school with around 1,750 students, including a Sixth Form of around 450. Our ethos is Valuing Everyone, Caring for Each Other and Achieving Excellence, and we aspire to improve life chances and dreams through ongoing progress and improvement in learning. We aim to be transformational in education, with high expectations, a caring and orderly community, and a safe environment where every student can develop through dedication and hard work.
Clubs
Tapton School hosts the Sheffield Vision Support Service integrated resource for vision-impaired learners. The service provides specialist support including bespoke modification of learning in appropriate media (e.g., braille), in-class support, specialist intervention teaching (CFVI), Orientation and Mobility Training, and Independent Living Skills Training. The Service outreach team supports all children and young people across the city with vision impairment. The Service consists of qualified specialist teachers, specialist teaching assistants, registered habilitation specialists and curriculum support staff. Ongoing specialist support and educational provision are provided to enable each student to reach their potential and become independent adults who are included in all aspects of their community.
Tapton follows the Sheffield Local Authority policy for admissions, and applications for a place at Tapton need to be directed to Secondary Admissions for Sheffield. Information and a Common Transfer Form can be sought from the Sheffield Council website or by contacting Secondary Admissions. Tapton is presently oversubscribed in all year groups.
