George Spencer Academy is a warm, friendly and vibrant community built on high expectations. The ethos of excellence underpins everything we do, with a commitment to providing opportunities of the highest quality and educating the whole child. The curriculum is ambitious, varied and innovative, supported by extensive extra-curricular and enrichment activities to develop well-rounded, lifelong learners.

George Spencer Academy uses a wrap-around curriculum consisting of the Formal, Wider and Hidden Curriculum. After-school supervised study is available as Period 6 in the Lower Site Resource Centre (LSRC) until 4:20pm (4:00pm on Wednesdays). The LSRC provides an area for quiet study and/or additional computer time. Sixth Form students have dedicated study spaces in the Sixth Form Resource Centre and common room, and there are free classrooms in the Sixth Form buildings.
The Inclusion Team is led by SENCo Mrs S Clark and Inclusion Leader Mrs L Wiseman. The team includes Learning and Progress Assistants who provide in-class support and tailored keyworker sessions, and Specialist Intervention Caseworkers who provide 1:1 and small group support outside of the classroom. Termly reviews are held for all students on the SEN register. Parents can contact via [email protected] or 0115 9170100. The Spencer Academies Trust academies observe local authority admissions protocols and are non-selective. Priority is given to children from feeder schools and partners within the Trust family. To register interest in a place, parents should fill out the registration form and staff may then be in touch regarding visits.
