Stony Dean is a specialist school where every young person is valued as an individual, with three core priorities guiding all: effective communication and interaction, independence, and employability. All students have an EHCP and applications are made through Buckinghamshire Council SEN team; the school emphasizes partnering with families and professionals to support each pupil’s development.

Curriculum Highlights

Core areas of learning: Communication and Interaction; Independence; Employability Follows the National Curriculum differentiated to meet needs; English, Maths, Science, ICT, Learning for Life (PSHCE), Humanities, Art, D&T (Resistant Materials) and D&T Food technology, RE, PE, Work Related Learning and a Social Communication Programme delivered in therapy group Offers English/Maths at Entry Level to Level 2 and some foundation subjects; six lesson day with some ability streaming In the 6th form we offer a vocational curriculum including travel training, work experience placements, courses studied with local special schools, and a transition course; Speech and Language Therapy supports work placements

Admissions Criteria

All students have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). The school notes that it is not suitable for children and young people whose primary need is social, emotional and mental health, or those who present an ongoing risk to others.
