SEND Provision

The school provides Speech & Language Therapy and Occupational Therapy with a multidisciplinary team. The Speech & Language Therapy team supports language, communication and social interaction, and may work in class groups, pairs, or individually. Occupational Therapy is integrated into the curriculum with staff using specialist equipment and individual programs. Behaviour and Emotional Support is provided by a Learning Mentor (Su Holland), with emotional literacy support (ELSA) and related activities. Nursing support is provided by School Nurses employed by Buckinghamshire NHS Trust, with named nurses for Downley and for Cressex/Studley Green sites.

Admissions Criteria

Chiltern Wood School serves children and young people aged 4–19 with severe, complex and profound additional needs. Pupils are located across three sites in the High Wycombe area, with different departments and specialisms. The cohort may move between sites as needed, and the school has described itself as maintaining wellbeing and a safe, secure, and happy environment; Ofsted rated the school as ‘good’ in May 2024.
