Curriculum Highlights

Broad and balanced curriculum designed to meet the needs of all children, including those with disabilities or special educational needs (SEND). Phonics taught using Jolly Classroom; English taught daily with guided reading and a focus on reading for pleasure. Art and Design & Technology taught using Kapow schemes of learning; Art is taught bi-termly with Kapow; DT links to year groups and other subjects. Geography taught using the Grammarsaurus scheme with fieldwork and progression of locational knowledge and map reading skills. Foreign languages taught using Linguastars with extensive processing instruction to support progression in vocabulary, phonics and grammar. Music taught with Charanga in KS1–KS3; Year 4–6 receive specialist music instruction via Bolton Music Service; choir offered as a weekly extra-curricular activity. Science taught using the White Rose Science scheme; emphasis on Working Scientifically, practical investigations and end-of-unit assessments. PSHE taught using the Jigsaw scheme, covering Relationships & Health Education, SMSC and British Values; mindfulness and emotional literacy are highlighted.

SEND Provision

The Pupil Premium was introduced in April 2011. Funding is allocated to schools on a per pupil basis for those entitled to free school meals and for looked-after pupils.
