Lower Farm Primary is non-denominational and seeks to educate its pupils in the aspects of the Christian religion, whilst respecting and recognising a variety of other religions which may be practised by our pupils and their families.

Curriculum Highlights

New National Curriculum introduced in 2014; aims to develop democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance of different faiths and beliefs; National Curriculum used to provide essential knowledge for educated citizens; subject leaders use the National Curriculum to create long-term plans; Mathematics uses a mastery approach; English includes weekly SPaG, dictation and writing lessons with high-quality texts; Phonics delivered via Essential Letters and Sounds with daily teaching; Reading emphasises a reading spine and consistent reading practice; Early Years follows Development Matters with NCETM Maths and ELS phonics; Forest School and extensive outdoor learning; On-site nurture provision; SEN provision including a specially resourced cabin; sustained shared thinking in EYFS.

Wraparound is offered for our 2 and 3 year old pupils from 8:45-3:20pm with lunchtime options.

SEND Provision

SEN provision includes specially resourced cabin opened in 2022 to support Reception and Year 1 with moderate communication and interaction and cognition and learning needs; staff plan using adapted Essential Letters and Sounds; Visual Timelines, choice boards, Makaton, Now and Next Boards, PECS and ALD boards; staff trained in Attention Autism; life skills sessions; meetings with SENCo; on-site nurture and a range of targeted interventions (Numbers Stacks, Words First, Precision teaching, Colourful Semantics, Talk Boost, Lego Therapy, ELSA, Nurture, Emotion Coaching, Speech and Language with Walsall NHS service and Chatterboxes).

Admissions Criteria

Nursery admissions allow 3-hour sessions (AM 8:45–11:45 or PM 12:35–3:35); Reception starts in September; admissions preference is given to: brother or sister already in attendance, relevant medical and social factors, and proximity of home address to the school.
