The Headteacher describes Mayfield as an inclusive, diverse school where every student is valued and part of a family. He highlights a broad curriculum with enrichment and high expectations, underpinned by core values of courage, integrity and contribution, and aims to develop happy, confident, well-rounded learners who contribute positively to the community.

Broad, balanced curriculum with a wide range of subjects and qualifications. Curriculum is sequenced from Year 7 to Year 13 to progressively develop core knowledge and skills. Focus on developing literacy and oracy, Personal Development and SMSC, and British values. Assessment and feedback to identify gaps and drive progress. High-quality careers guidance from Year 7 upwards.

SEND Provision

Mayfield School has an Inclusion Faculty dedicated to SEND and EAL support. It provides interventions and support such as Lexia (Phonics to develop reading), Speech and Language Therapy, Love Literacy (Literacy Intervention), Maths Base (Numeracy Intervention), Lunchtime homework support, The Zone (Lunchtime Social Interaction club), Counselling, and 1:1 and group mentoring. The EAL department supports students with integration into the school and culture through small-group English with a multi-modal approach. The options process at KS4 includes ASDAN Award and Language Skills and Study Support for learners of English as an Additional Language. The school works with parents/carers/teachers and external agencies to identify and support students with SEND using a Plan–Assess–Do–Review approach.
