Curriculum Highlights

All girls at Woodford County High School study ten GCSE subjects. These are all examined at the end of Year 11. GCSE courses are two years in duration, with the exception of the three sciences and mathematics, which are studied over three years at Woodford (in Years 9, 10 & 11). The English Baccalaureate (EBacc) requires English, Mathematics, a language, Sciences (at least 2) and a humanity (History or Geography). The Core GCSE Curriculum requires all students to study English, Maths, Science, a Language, a Humanities Subject (History or Geography) and Non-Examined Elements including Core PE and Core RS. In Years 10 & 11, additional time is available for PSHE and Careers Guidance; ICT skills development across subjects.

Admissions Criteria

Admission to Sixth Form is open to internal and external applicants. A minimum of 30 places will be offered each year for appropriately qualified girls from other schools. The entry criteria are the same for both groups. Students are admitted based on the availability of places in the timetabled classes for each subject. The application process to join the Sixth Form starts in the Autumn Term in Year 11. For September 2026 entry, Sixth Form Open Evening is on Tuesday 21 October 2025 and the online application opens 17 November 2025. Our entry requirements can be found here.
