Headteacher Melissa Nwankiti describes Roding as an inclusive and vibrant two-form entry school with a commitment to nurturing every pupil across academic, physical, social, cultural, and spiritual development. The school emphasises a broad, balanced curriculum with focus on wider experiences and extracurricular activities. The six core values are resilience, compassion, respect, independence, ambition, and curiosity. The school also offers specialist provision for up to 35 deaf pupils to support inclusion.
Breakfast Club runs in the school hall from 7:20am to 8:30am every day. After-school care is provided by KidsOwn; they collect the children from Roding Primary School and take them to Ashton Playing Fields, a short walk away from the school, and the club runs until 6:00 PM each day. The school is open for a total of 32.5 hours a week (excluding breakfast and after-school club hours).
Roding Primary School has a specialist provision for up to 35 deaf pupils. Six specialist Teachers of the Deaf plan with Class Teachers to ensure Deaf pupils access the curriculum, with options to teach in mainstream classes or in soundproofed bases. A team of Communication Support Workers (CSWs) interpret as needed, and SSE is used to aid access to the curriculum. An audiology service, including daily equipment checks and a dedicated audiology technician, supports pupils. The school uses a total communication approach and signage to support learning.
