Welcome to William Torbitt Primary School. It is a school at the heart of the community, where children’s learning is paramount and the learning of the whole school community is highly valued and encouraged; there are high expectations of staff and pupils and a continual striving for excellence.

Curriculum Highlights

English uses the Talk for Writing (TFW) approach school-wide since 2023 to support reading and writing development. Mathematics follows the Mathematics Mastery Program of Study with daily Maths Meetings and inclusion of Times Tables Rock Stars. Computing & ICT are split into Computing (coding) and ITC (functional computer literacy) with an emphasis on E-Safety. Science includes an annual STEM Week and focuses on knowledge, scientific investigative skills and vocabulary. Art units are linked to termly topics with artist studies and cultural reflection; includes traditional Indian block printing and cross-cultural art. PSHCE follows the JIGSAW scheme with RSHE components; RSHE content is taught in the Summer term with some non-statutory elements and parental opt-out options. RE follows the Redbridge Agreed Syllabus for RE (SACRE). Music is taught with a well-resourced music room to enable singing, composing and performing; aims to nurture a lifelong love of music.
