Curriculum Highlights

Curriculum is taken from the National Curriculum and a locally agreed syllabus for religious education. The Curriculum aims to provide opportunities for all pupils to learn and achieve and to develop their spiritual, moral, social and cultural development. Reading competence and a wide vocabulary are essential parts of this process. Lessons may take place in the ICT Suite, the cookery room, the Studio, the library or on the field, with visits planned to enrich learning. The curriculum is sequenced to give pupils the best access to new learning, with examples such as chronological study in history and expanding geography from local to global. Key knowledge is shared with families at the start of each term through year group newsletters, knowledge mats and vocabulary lists (including etymology). There is an emphasis on oracy and pupils becoming articulate citizens. Weekday Wonders and Weekend Wonders provide rich curriculum experiences beyond daily lessons.
