Mandeville Curriculum with two pathways Curriculum 1 supports children working at engagement levels (Exploration, Realisation, Anticipation, Persistence, Initiation) Curriculum 2 supports children working on 'I can' statements and accessing Pre-key stage standards Seven key learning areas: Communication and Language; Physical Development & Sensory; Personal, Social, Emotional & Mental Health; Literacy (including phase 1-3 phonics); Mathematics, Cognition & Learning; Understanding the World; Expressive Art & Design Cross-curricular teaching connected to termly topic

SEND Provision

Therapy and medical support are provided by a multidisciplinary therapy team including Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Clinical Psychologists; a Music Therapist visits weekly; the medical team includes two full-time school nurses and two health care assistants; therapies are integrated into daily classroom activities and guided by individual Education Health and Care Plans and pupil-specific education plans.

Admissions Criteria

Admission arrangements adhere to the Local Authority’s Admissions Policy; pupils admitted to Mandeville School will normally have an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP) coordinated by the Local Authority SEND Panel; EHCP outcomes should be realistic and reviewed at Annual Reviews; pupils are normally considered for admission on completion of a statutory assessment; referrals may be sent to the school before statutory age; preliminary visits to view the school are advised; see SEN Information Report.
