Welcome from Headteacher Liz Smith; Marlborough is a split-site secondary special school for 85 students with severe and complex needs; aims to enable students to thrive and prepare for adulthood; emphasises holistic, inclusive curriculum; values and outreach commitment.

Curriculum Highlights

Pathways: Meadow Pathway, Orchard Pathway, Legacy Pathway Meadow Pathway meets the needs of learners with profound and multiple learning difficulties, complex sensory needs and medical and physical needs. Orchard Pathway meets the needs of learners with severe learning difficulties including those with autism and other complex needs. Legacy Pathway is provision for pupils between 14 and 19 who are able to attend Marlborough's Legacy site focusing on preparing students for adulthood and learning beyond school. Meadow Pathway Curriculum Themes – five year rolling programme; Orchard Pathway Themes – five year rolling programme; Legacy Pathway Curriculum Themes Orchard Pathway Curriculum Themes: Five-year rolling programme for Key Stages 3 and 4; Orchard Post 16 runs on its own distinct three year rolling curriculum. Personalised learning is structured across five areas; KS3; KS4 & KS5; Cognition; Communication and Interaction; Personal, Social and Emotional; Physical and Sensory; Independent Living; Good Health; Education, Employment and Careers; Participating in Society. Enrichment and cultural experiences including community links such as Charlton Athletic and Magpie Dance; therapists regularly visit classes to support needs.

SEND Provision

Outreach programme to develop inclusive practice and knowledge in Bexley mainstream settings, delivering CPD and support for students with complex needs.

Admits students via local authority consultation; referrals are assessed to ensure Marlborough can meet needs; if not suitable, local authority is informed; an appeals process is available.
