Additional Resource Provision (ARP) caters for twelve pupils with a diagnosis of autism (ASC). All pupils have an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP). Spaces in the ARP are allocated through the Local Authority SEND Panel. ARP offers three curriculum pathways: pre-formal (sensory-based/engagement); semi-formal explorers and semi-formal challengers; and formal learners (mainstream). The ARP day includes structured activities to develop communication and turn-taking, and staff includes two teachers and four teaching assistants; additional professionals include an Autism Adviser, a Speech and Language Therapist and an Educational Psychologist. Mainstream integration is planned where possible.
Admissions are by priority: 1) children in the care of the Local Authority; 2) children with a brother or sister attending the school or linked Junior School on the same site; 3) children who live closest to the school (measured in kilometres in a straight line); 4) a place may be withdrawn if a parent moves away from the school; 5) having a sibling in Nursery does not give priority for admission. Nursery admissions are direct to the school. Nursery places are allocated by the Local Authority criteria. Transfer to Junior School from Year 2 occurs; further information is sent home from the Junior School.
There is a charge for clubs to cover running costs.
