St Mary's Catholic Primary School has a strong Catholic ethos that permeates all areas of school life and lies at the heart of our educational philosophy.

Head Teacher's Message

Welcome from the Headteacher highlighting St Mary’s Catholic ethos, Beatitudes-based values, and a commitment to partnership with home, parish and the wider community to develop confident, lifelong learners grounded in Christian values.

Curriculum Highlights

Religious Education takes 10% of curriculum time; 2.5 hours per week for pupils in Reception to Year 6 and 1.5 hours per week for Nursery children. Religious Education is taught in accordance with the RED Model Curriculum To Know You More Clearly (June 2023). The RED emphasizes learning rooted in Scripture and Catholic faith values; assessment against RED end-of-phase outcomes. Rooted in Love, the Catholic Social Teaching programme from Caritas England and Wales, is used to frame learning and action. Pupils learn about other world religions to foster respect for diverse beliefs and traditions; Sacramental preparation occurs within parish life, with Year 3 RE supporting preparation for Reconciliation and First Holy Communion.
