It is my pleasure to welcome you to The London Nautical School. Located in central London and established over 100 years ago, our aim is for pupils to experience an education that develops all aspects of their personality and helps them become well-qualified, secure, happy young adults who are able to manage themselves personally, socially and academically, and who are tolerant of difference. We strive for excellence for all, high standards, improved teaching and learning, and enriching opportunities that unlock potential. We invite visitors to see this in practice under Headteacher Michael Schofield.

The Learning Support in the London Nautical School provides an inclusive, coherent, effective and co-ordinated support structure for all pupils facing barriers to learning in all Key Stages. It exists to support the academic and pastoral processes of the school, not to replace them, and aims to co-ordinate support for pupils with particular needs (SEN, disaffected pupils, gifted and talented, truants, borderline achievers and students with English as an additional language). It coordinates a range of separately funded strands of individual support and delivers the discrete support in a relevant and focused manner. Objectives include enabling all pupils to access the curriculum and achieve according to ability, direct support for identified pupils, ensuring accessibility to an appropriate curriculum, raising attainment, and enhancing self-esteem. SEN overview and practice (screening, diagnosis, action, assessment and evaluation) are described, along with resources, EHCP planning, and collaboration with parents and external professionals. The ASC Resource Base provides specialist support for literacy, speech and language, social skills, anxiety management and related interventions, with dedicated spaces and access to specialist staff.
