Admissions Criteria

LBTS uses banding tests for Year 7 admissions (GL Assessment) with five bands plus a sixth for those without a test score. Criteria for allocation of places include: Looked After Children and Previously Looked After Children (highest priority); Siblings of current students; Children with exceptional medical or social needs (MEDSOC panel); Children of staff at the school (with limits); and distance from home to the school (straight-line measurement). There is a waiting list maintained by Lambeth LA, and the banding structure remains in effect until 31 December 2026. The test date is 18th November at 9:00am and tests last three hours. A child’s test score determines band placement, and vacancies are offered from bands according to published oversubscription criteria; those who have not taken the test are considered after those who have, with ties broken by proximity.
