Curriculum Highlights

Reading is at the heart of the curriculum. Phonics above 90% and 100% PSC in 2025; Year 1 uses RWI phonics programme. There is a loaning library in every classroom and a separate school library with reading for pleasure weekly. Each year group undertakes an enterprise project for the Christmas fair and learns about profit margins. Music is a key component with weekly music activities and after-school music clubs; Year 4-6 take part in Young Voices. An outdoor environment including a forest, campfire area, allotment and wildlife area with regular outdoor lessons. A PE specialist delivers weekly lessons; participates in Outwood Together; Platinum Sports Award since 2023 and 2025. First aid is taught to Year 1-6, including emergency calls and CPR. Statutory National Curriculum is used to guide schemes of work.

SEND Provision

Stanley Grove provides timely, personalised SEND support through high-quality teaching, targeted interventions and a strong focus on inclusion, working with families and external professionals, with reference to Wakefield Local Offer to support pupils with special educational needs and disabilities.
