"Flying High at Flushdyke"
Welcome to Flushdyke from Headteacher Mr D Wood. The school is described as a small, inclusive and thriving community with big ambitions, where all children are valued, feel happy and safe, and are encouraged to be independent, confident and to work as a team.

Pupils may start in Nursery the term after their 3rd birthday. There are three Nursery intakes per year – September, January and after Easter. For full-time education, all children are eligible to start school in the September following their 4th birthday. The Local Authority determines the admissions policy following consultation with the school. From September 2001, Infant Class Size legislation limits classes to normally no more than 30 pupils. Flushdyke J & I School has a current published admission number of 15 per year group. There are 15 Nursery places available in the morning and the same number in the afternoon. If the number of applications exceeds places, priority is given according to the admissions policy; when decisions must be made between children meeting the same criteria, distance from the school (nearest) is the tiebreaker. Full details of Local Authority policy are available in the Guide for Parents (Wakefield). Full-time admissions are handled by the Local Authority Admissions Department (telephone 01924 305616).
