Ethos & Values

"The Glory of God is a Human Being Fully Alive!"

Achieve Faith Love Community Solidarity Dignity Creation and environment Peace Dignity of work and participation The common good Option for the poor

St Michael’s Catholic School is a Catholic school with regular prayer, collective worship, masses and ongoing chaplaincy. It emphasises a Catholic ethos throughout the curriculum, including Catholic Social Teaching, and describes its mission as helping students grow in faith and with love within a community. The school highlights its patron Saint Michael, the motto “The Glory of God is a Human Being Fully Alive!”, and its aim to nurture students as people made in God’s likeness. It references the FAITH virtues, Catholic chaplaincy, and links to local parishes as part of its Catholic life.

Head Teacher's Message

The Executive Headteacher introduces St Michael’s as a vibrant, inclusive Catholic learning community across three phases. The message emphasises a Gospel values-based education, striving for excellence while prioritising kindness, respect and service. It notes potential new school buildings at the High Wycombe site and the first Year 13 cohort at the Aylesbury site, and invites families to explore the school as a place to learn and grow.

Curriculum Highlights

All KS4 pupils are entered for the Edexcel Catholic Christianity GCSE. At KS5, pupils are able to study Philosophy and Ethics.

SEND Provision

The school describes an inclusive approach to SEND, with early identification of needs and placement on a SEND Register. Provision is monitored through Student Support Plans, and the school states it will use its ‘best endeavours’ to ensure progress for all pupils in line with SEND Code of Practice (2015). The SEN Information Report 2025 and SEND Policy 2025/26 are listed as available.

Admissions Criteria

Nursery admissions: St Michael’s Nursery admits children from the term after their 3rd birthday. There are three termly intakes (Autumn, Spring and Summer). Admission to the Nursery does not automatically guarantee a place at St Michael’s Catholic School. If applications exceed places, the following category order is used, after prioritising any children with a statement of SEND or Roman Catholic ‘Looked After’ and previously ‘Looked After’ children: 1) Previously Looked After Children; 2) Roman Catholic children with written priest support and a Baptismal Certificate; 3) Roman Catholic children with either written priest support or Baptismal Certificate; 4) Children in Local Authority Care or previously in care; 5) Children of other Christian denominations with minister support; 6) Other faith children with minister support (provided parents accept the Catholic ethos). If excess applications remain within a category, priority goes to siblings at the school, children of staff, then the shortest distance from the nursery, measured by Buckinghamshire LA GIS.

Financial Information

The Nursery offers 15 hour spaces, 30 hours spaces and fee paying spaces. All children are eligible to receive 15 hours of funding from the term after their third birthday, and some will be eligible for 30 hours funding. There is an option to top up hours by paying for sessions if you are not eligible for 30 hours funding.
