Head Teacher's Message

Headteacher Corinne Benham-Smith emphasizes that Priory Rise places children at the centre of everything, with high expectations, warm and nurturing relationships, modern facilities, strong home–school partnerships, and a commitment to inspiring lifelong learning and community involvement.

Curriculum Highlights

The school follows the National Curriculum across year groups. Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Revised is used for phonics in Reception and Year One; Year One uses Little Wandle for phonics and access to phonics resources. Reading is a key driver of learning, with guided reading, daily reading practices, and a focus on reading for pleasure and learning. Master Readers sessions run daily in some year groups to support in-depth reading of high-quality texts. The curriculum is designed to combine school values with Fundamental British Values to develop aspiration, confidence, and citizenship. Enrichment opportunities are offered throughout the year, including visits, topic-based learning, and experiences such as World Book Day and residential trips (e.g., Year Four Frontier Centre visit). Homework is set via Google Classroom and My Maths, with additional focus on times tables and spelling. Career choices are woven into learning to help children understand how their learning connects to future pathways.
