Head Teacher's Message

Executive Headteacher Steve Honeyman describes Birdwell as a warm, inclusive school with high expectations for all, emphasising excellence and preparing learners for life.

Curriculum Highlights

Accelerated Learning Cycle underpins the curriculum. Broad and balanced curriculum across History, Geography, Art and Design, Design and Technology, Science, PE, MFL, Music, ICT, PSHE and RE. Direct experiences and pupil voice inform curriculum monitoring and development. Little Wandle phonics program used for Early Reading. Gathers, skills, apply approach with robust assessment to ensure progression. Curriculum is monitored by curriculum leads and pupil voice.

SEND Provision

To ensure that all children have access to broad and balanced learning opportunities; teaching and learning appropriate to the individual’s needs; early identification of SEND; involvement of parents and carers; inclusive learning across the curriculum.
