The mission of St Mary's Catholic Primary Academy is rooted in the Catholic faith with Christ at the centre. The school states that everything it does is based on the beliefs, values, attitudes and practices of the Catholic faith and on the assurance of God’s loving care for each person. It aims to promote individual development and strive for excellence in teaching, learning and discipline, and to uphold the relationships between staff, pupils, parents, governors and parishioners, with a focus on respect and tolerance for all. The pupil body also includes a Children’s Mission Statement expressing goals such as happiness, collaboration, care, excitement in learning, and a welcoming, honest, and stimulating environment.
The Headteacher Welcome communicates that St Mary's values caring Christian ethos with Christ at the centre, and a commitment to developing each child's potential through a wide range of educational experiences to support spiritual, social, moral, and academic development.
Admissions information indicates Baptised Catholic children are given priority according to the school's Admissions Policy. Families must also submit a Supplementary Information Form (SIF) to aid prioritisation. Online Kirklees admissions apply, with on-line applications opening 1 September the year before starting. A Baptismal Certificate should be provided to support the application, and there are processes for mid-year transfers and appeals. The school provides links to the Admissions Policy and SIF for the 2025/2026 and 2026/2027 academic years, and offers guidance on how to apply and appeal.
