Wrap-around care is offered from 7:45am to 6:00pm for children in Nursery and School (age 3 years to 7 years). Breakfast Club runs from 7:45am to 8:30am with a selection of cereals, toast, spreads, milk and fruit juice; on-site in the main hall; breakfast is served until 8:30am and there is an emphasis on healthy, supervised start to the day. After School Care runs Monday to Friday until 6pm and is held in the Rainbow Room; a wide range of age-appropriate activities with a light snack; cost £10 per session; payments via direct debit or other arrangements; registration required via the school office. Fees apply for sessions not used or outside term-time arrangements; on-site care is designed to fit around work commitments and is popular, with staff accompanying children to Nursery or classes as needed.
Admissions priorities (general): 1 Looked After Children. 2 Children living in the school's Priority Admission Area (PAA) who have an older brother or sister attending Shaw Cross. 3 Other children who live in the school's PAA. 4 Children living outside the PAA who have an older brother or sister already attending. 5 Other children who live outside the PAA, with distance used to determine priority. Nursery admissions follow similar principles with entry by term and priority by age and family circumstances (including Looked After Children and those with siblings in the school). Free early education entitlement is noted for Nursery. These criteria determine allocation of places and the process is administered by Kirklees LA for online applications, with the Headteacher informing about transitions.
