Head Teacher's Message

Castle Mead Academy is characterised by high expectations, doing the simple things well, and the belief that all children can succeed. The Principal describes a calm, caring environment with a strong pastoral system, belonging, and families’ involvement, and a curriculum that is ambitious and academically rigorous designed to develop scholars with powerful knowledge and character.

SEND Provision

Castle Mead Academy provides SEND support with external agencies and in-school intervention. External agencies listed include The Educational Psychologist, The Child and Mental Health Services (CAMHS) support, Learning, Communication and Interaction Team (LCI), Children’s Hospital School, The School Nurse, The Educational Welfare Officer, Speech and Language Service, Occupational Therapy, and School Counsellor. In-school interventions include an allocated Key worker, Scholar passports, Lunchtime nurture groups, Lego therapy, and tailored programmes. SEMH support is provided with access to safe spaces, counselling referrals, and a PSHE curriculum focusing on relationships, safety, and wellbeing. Transition arrangements and collaboration with feeder schools are described, with ongoing monitoring of progress and adjustments as needed.
