The Headteacher states that Crown Hills aims for every student to be the best they can be, to thrive in their future career, and to contribute positively to society, guided by aspiration, commitment and the belief that students can achieve great things.
Crown Hills Community College uses published admissions criteria with multiple categories: (1) Children in the care of a local authority or who were previously looked after; (2) Children who have a serious medical condition or exceptional social or domestic needs that make it essential they attend the school named (a separate application is needed for this category); (3) Children whose home address is in the catchment area with a sibling at the school who will still be on roll in years 8–11 when the applicant starts; (4) Children whose home address is outside the catchment area with a sibling at the school who will still be on roll in years 8–11 when the applicant starts; (5) Children whose home address is in the catchment area; (6) Children who are sons/daughters of staff working at the school for at least 2 years at the time of application or recruited to fill a vacant post with a demonstrable skill shortage; (7) Children whose home address is outside the catchment area and who have requested a place. A tie-breaker gives priority to children living closest to the school, measured by straight-line distance; if two applicants have the same distance and only one place remains, the offer is decided by lots drawn by an officer not involved in the administration of school admissions. The Published Admission Number is 240 with an additional temporary 60, totaling 300.
