The school’s SEND provision includes the Additional Needs Team (ANT) supporting SEND across four broad areas: Communication & Interaction; Cognition & Learning; Social, Emotional and Mental Health; and Sensory and/or Physical Needs. The school hosts the KS3/4 Complex Communication and Interaction Additional Resource Provision, staffed by specialist teachers and ETAs, with support from an Educational Psychologist and external agencies including Kirklees Autism Outreach Service, Connexions and a specialist Careers Advisor. Support can include in-class assistance, additional teaching of literacy and numeracy, social skills mentoring and other targeted interventions. The school has an open admissions policy for disabilities, notes accessibility considerations (Reception area and entry to Sports Hall and Performance Hall are now more accessible), and provides links to SEND Policy and Local Offer information through Kirklees.
September admissions are managed with allocations by Kirklees Council, with allocations sent in March. Parents may appeal if unhappy with an offer.
